📆The fisrt Month of MercyCode

It’s just over a month since MercyCode went live, so we decided to ask ChatGPT what it thought of this project.

The answer gave us encouragement and also presented a problem.

ChatGPT said MercyCode was a good idea, which was very pleasing and reassuring to read, but ChatGPT also reminded us of something important: for MercyCode to grow, it must build trust.

That means being transparent about who is behind this site, and what it stands for.

Peter, the person who started this site, is just an ordinary person, not a public figure, or a polished leader, but just a plain, rather shy person who is not someone seeking the spotlight or attention.

A faceless name may well not offer much in the way of transparency, and we apologize for that and will continue to work on the problem, but this project is not about Peter - it’s about all of us.

MercyCode will grow if people believe in it - not because of Peter, but because of the voices that fill it.

If volunteers step forward and offer to become the “face” of MercyCode, that would be a welcome solution to the problem.

But if not, then MercyCode will continue to stand, quietly, as a place where humanity speaks together - this is, after all, what MercyCode stands for.

When it comes to being transparent about where any donations will go, we have no problem with this.

Please be aware and always remember we are a non-profit organization.

We are yet to receive any donations, which is not surprising given the basic layout of our new website.

Rest assured, all donations will go toward remaining online and accessible, covering hosting, improving the site, outreach, and ensuring the site stays free of ads and open to everyone. Nothing more, nothing less.

A month is a small milestone, but we are proud to have been in operation even for this short amount of time.

We cannot put into words how grateful we are to those that have added their voice. Your support means everything to us.

With excitement and determination, we say: this is only the beginning.

Thank you for being here. 🌱
